Bio
From addiction...
...to conviction
Jā-WrK is an alternative hip-hop/rap artist born in Miami, FL and currently based in Reno, NV. He has also lived in parts of Florida, Alabama, and California. Once an addict on the streets, he is now a full-time working father building toward his dream of making music his career and means of providing for his family.
As a child, he fell in love with music, listening to everything from classic rock (bands like The Beatles, Elton John, Pink Floyd, The Doors, etc.) to grundge/alternative rock (REM, Nirvana, Alice In Chains, Rage Against The Machine, etc.) to hip-hop/rap (Coolio, DMX, Bone Thugs, Tupac, Eminem, Etc.) and everything in-between. He learned how to play saxophone in band and guitar on his own. By the time he was a teenager, he was writing poetry and songs, starting a rap group with his younger brother at just 15. He has pursued other projects, such as a rock band with his two brothers, but hip-hop/rap has always been his real passion.
After being away from music for years during active addiction and early recovery, he decided to take on the moniker of Jā-WrK, using his experience as a message to those who relate and may still be suffering: YOU ARE NOT ALONE. Some of his biggest influences are Tech N9ne, Krizz Kaliko, Hopsin, Linkin Park, and Eminem. He has worked with producers and artists such as Bag Of Tricks Cat, Kato On The Track, Wyshmaster, and Krizz Kaliko. His collaborations span across numerous genres in the indie/underground community, working with artists/bands like Buried Beneath Me, Nick Lang UK, Tim Lane, Big Lungz, Yvng Demon, and Raxputin. He has even collaborated with a streamer, Gamer Girl Angie, in creating her intro song, When Worlds Collide.
Today, he is currently working on a couple of full length projects, collabs, and live shows. He is planning to do more live shows and work with bigger artists on some of these future records. His current catalog is available here on the website and on all of your favorite streaming platforms. Follow on socials to stay up-to-date with current events and more.
